Revival On South Beach.
In the 1940’s celebrities like Humphrey Bogart, Katherine Hepburn, and Fred Astaire were making names for themselves, smoking was still glamorous, and Art Deco was en vogue. It was around this time that the Gale South Beach & Regent Hotel came on the scene in Miami. Decades have passed, and we’ve traded Katherine for a Kardashian, Fred for Kanye, and cigarettes for a vaporizer, but Art Deco is something that stands the test of time. The Gale Hotel has proven that with their revival of the joint hotel on the Southwest corner of 17th Street and Collins Avenue.
The $35 million restoration has helped preserve the Tropical Art Deco the Gale South Beach was known for while transforming it into a new Italian Riviera-inspired boutique. From the rich oak floors, classic 40’s chandeliers and sconces, white marble window frames and Art Deco-inspired loungers, you could see yourself drinking scotch on the rocks with Bogart here back in the day. 87 guest rooms are adorned in 40’s décor with Italian accents and feature cozy beds and modish furniture. A stay in the Signature Terrazzo or Signature Grande suites will treat you to a private balcony with ocean views. The joint property also offers a 5,000-square-foot pool deck with private infinity pool, The Regent Cocktail Club, the Rec Room and the Dolce Italian restaurant. Won’t be long before K&K start making appearances here…with their baby bump.
