High Five! It’s The New A5.
Oozing tech and an edgy, more angular design, the new 2017 Audi A5 Coupe may not seem like a huge departure from its predecessor at first glance, but look a little closer and you’ll see that the new model got sweet upgrades in all the right places.
There’s a nose that plunges deeper around a new single frame grille, punctuated by xenon headlights and four prominent ribs on the hood. Along the side body, you’ll find a “tornado line” that really emphasizes the wheel wells and contributes to the A5’s miniscule 0.25 coefficient of drag.
The interior got a boost in passenger space and riders are treated to Audi’s Virtual Cockpit display, Audi Connect with a WiFi hotspot and more techy bells and whistles like Qi inductive phone charging and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Speaking of music, you can upgrade to the top-notch Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system to really amplify the 2017 A5’s “aeroacoustics.”
Redesigned suspension and steering systems plus beefed up powertrains and a weight loss of 132 pounds will add to the joy of ripping through the streets as well. The A5 will likely be available in the U.S. as a front-drive and Quattro all-wheel drive, and wed to the new 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine should deliver 252 hp. Giddyup.
