Hero: Snoop Lion

Snoop Dogg Becomes Snoop Lion

WE’LL HAVE WHAT HE’S SMOKING

Bow wow wow yippee yo yippee yay, Snoop Dogg has left the mother f’ing house. And in his stead? Allow us to (re)introduce: Snoop Lion. That’s right, folks. Snoop D-O-Double-G is ditching the rap game and his old moniker and switching his focus to reggae. His new reggae album, entitled “Reincarnation,” was sparked (pun intended) by Snoop’s recent 35-day trip to Jamaica, where he was “born again” into the Rastafarian culture and became inspired to create music his kids and grandmother could listen to. Tracks like “La La La” embody a mellow reggae vibe with a nice dub beat, R&B medley and a hip hop undertone.

Vice, the force behind his latest album, will also be producing a documentary about Snoop Lion, and just in case you were wondering, yes, a coffee table book about Snoop’s rebirth is also in the pipeline (again, pun intended). Snoop Lion explains that he connected to Bob Marley’s spirit while in Jamaica and feels that he is “Bob Marley reincarnated.” Marley’s son Rohan was at Snoop’s conference to offer his blessing. Now that’s some serious blazing, even for you Snoop.
