And now, the Volkswagen E-Bugster Concept Car. Made possible by a new Combined Charging System developed in cooperation with Audi, BMW, Daimler, Porsche, Ford and General Motors/Opel, the E-Bugster allows charging via single-phase AC sources (120-Volt US) or ultra-fast DC sources at specific charging stations. Of course, the Volkswagen E-Bugster doesn’t charge only when plugged in: as soon as your foot leaves the accelerator pedal, kinetic energy is transformed into electricity and stored in the battery. And just because it’s electric doesn’t mean that you have sacrifice speed. The electric motor in the sporty two-seater provides 85 kWh of power, which can propel it from 0 to 60 mph in 10.9 seconds, and offer a range of at least 110 miles from the 28.3 kWh lithium-ion batteries. Just like your Martini watch hybrid, it’s only a concept for now but we eagerly await the production phase of both.
